James’ Extreme Lateral Interbody Fusion (XLIF) Patient Story
In 2015 I wasn’t able to walk more than 2 NYC blocks because of severe back pain. In 2016 I had seen 2 other surgeons from different hospitals that said they couldn’t find anything wrong with my back. When someone referred me to Dr Girardi ‘s office he was the only one who did a CT scan and that’s when he found my problem. I had surgery in 2016 and for 9 years I had my life back! In 2023, I had a knee replacement from HSS and believed I was having complications due to the pain. My knee surgeon kept on telling me “I bet it has to do with your back”. In July of 2024 I had a XLIF with Dr. Girardi because of severe degenerative arthritis in the spine. Four months later I have completely healed and I have no pain in my knee and my back is pain free! I have my life back. There are times when I think of what Dr. Girardi did for me and I get emotional. I truly owe it to Dr. Girardi and his entire staff! They are the finest.
